How to Customize the Post Author Info

Ignite adds a section about the post author after every post including the author's:

  • Name
  • Avatar
  • Bio

How to Change Your Display Name

The post author's Display Name is used in the post author section. To change your Display Name:

  1. Visit the Your Profile menu (Users → Your Profile)
  2. Scroll down the page to the Name section
  3. Use the Display name publicly as dropdown to select your Display Name
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the Update Profile button

Your new name will now be used in the post author info.

How to Change Your Avatar

By default, the post author's email will be used to get their associated Gravatar image. You can signup for Gravatar and associate an image with your email address to add an avatar.

Or, if you don't want to use Gravatar, you can use the WP User Avatar plugin to upload an avatar. To upload an avatar with WP User Avatar:

  1. Install & Activate the plugin
  2. Visit the Your Profile menu (Users → Your Profile)
  3. Scroll down the page to the Avatar section
  4. Click the Choose Image button
  5. Use the media manager to upload a new image or select an existing image, and click the Select button
  6. Click the Update Profile button

Your new avatar will now be used in the post author info and in your comments.

How to Change Your Bio

The post author's Biographical Info is used in the post author section. To change your Biographical Info:

  1. Visit the Your Profile menu (Users → Your Profile)
  2. Scroll down the page to the About Yourself section
  3. Enter your new bio in the Biographical Info textarea
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the Update Profile button

Your new bio will now be used in the post author info.

How to Hide the Post Author Info

The post author info is displayed by default, but you can hide it entirely by following these steps:

  1. Visit the Customizer (Appearance → Customize)
  2. Click on the Additional Options section
  3. Locate the Show post author info after posts? setting, and select the Hide option
  4. Click the Save & Publish button to save your changes

The post author info will now no longer show after posts.
