Product options WooCommerce plugins
There are quite a few plugins to choose from in this collection.
When evaluating each plugin, make sure to check out the screenshots and the live demos. Every plugin here has the essential functionality to add extra options to your products, but they also have unique strengths and weaknesses.
Here are my top choices for the best WooCommerce product add-on plugins.
1. WooCommerce Product Options
Barn2’s WooCommerce Product Options is one of the best plugins if you’re looking for a wide range of customization options and several different ways to create product options for your customers. Aside from being able to offer variations, such as sizes or colors, it also gives users the ability to create text fields for products. These fields can be used to collect information from customers, such as personalization details or special instructions, which saves both the store owners and customers from spending time on emails.
It also has the ‘File Upload’ field that gives customers the option to upload images and other files. This provides them a convenient way to give information about their orders, like print designs and various other details they wish to include in their custom order. Other excellent features of this plugin are the ‘Customer-Defined Price’ field that customers can use to enter a custom price and ‘Price Formula’ field that calculates a custom price for the product based on the other options they selected.
WooCommerce Product Options is rich in useful features that store owners need to make unlimited product options for their customers. What’s even more amazing is that it is easy to use and doesn’t need any coding. It’s definitely a value for money, given all the things you can do in just a single plugin.
2. WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate
WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate is the perfect plugin for adding extra options to your products. Using this plugin, you can create new options for individual products or all products at once. You can add options for things like color, gift wrapping, or an image to print on the product.
In total, there are 16 different field types including checkboxes, radio buttons, text fields, and file uploads. There’s even conditional logic so you can show/hide fields based on the user’s selection.
Another feature that makes this a fantastic choice for adding extra product options to WooCommerce, is the ability to change the price of the product based on the customer’s choices. You can charge more when they enable an option and add additional fees for specific customizations they choose.
3. Product Add-Ons Ultimate Bundle
If you liked the last product then you’ll love this one. It includes the same plugin, plus four additional add-ons that make it extremely powerful.
With this bundle, you’ll get the Advanced Uploads Add-on which lets customers edit and crop the images they add. It’s perfect for a print shop. There’s also an image previewer so shoppers can see what their uploaded image will look like printed on your product. And if you like that feature, you’ll love the Text Preview that allows customers to enter their text and preview it live on the product image.
One more amazing feature added with this bundle is the Advanced Calculations Add-on, which is used for calculating a price based on a product’s dimensions. You can upload a CSV with the available sizes and their prices, and then customers can use sliders to change the product size and see how the price updates. This makes it the best WooCommerce extra options plugin with custom prices. It’s perfect for products that don’t have a simple set of sizes like t-shirts and pants.
If you’re interested in these advanced features for your product add-ons, you can save a ton of money by getting them all in this bundle.
4. YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons & Extra Options
This is the WooCommerce plugin featured in the introduction. It makes it easy to add free and paid add-ons to your products. Choose from field types like dropdown menus and checkboxes to give customers simple ways to customize their products.
With this plugin, you can add as many extra options to your products as you want. Even better, it has a nicer UI than alternatives. For instance, instead of just displaying color options in a dropdown menu, you can show color swatches or small thumbnail images of the product in each color. You can also add icons to checkboxes and style radio buttons in a grid. This is above and beyond what the other plugins do for product add-on options.
You can add a custom price or fee for every add-on you assign to your products. This makes it easy to upsell add-ons like custom engraving. In fact, there’s even an option to promote accessories and related products below the additional options.
This plugin has a ton more options; we’ve barely scratched the surface, so if you want to see everything it can do, click the link below.
YayExtra is a freemium plugin that makes it simple to add more options to your products. For instance, you can give customers choices like sizes and colors for each product.
YayExtra takes things even further with conditional logic. For instance, imagine you have a t-shirt in multiple colors and materials, but not every material has all the colors. You could let the customer select the material first and then display the colors available for that material. You can make the relationships between these options as simple or complex as needed.
The YayExtra plugin is free, but there’s also a premium version that includes more advanced fields, such as an image uploader, date picker, color swatches, and more. These additional tools will help you make an eCommerce store that’s more user-friendly and make advanced product customization options possible.
6. WooCommerce Extra Product Options
This plugin has a unique approach. You’ll get a full form builder with drag and drop to create the additional options for your products. You can choose from more than 10 field types and drag and drop them into the additional options section. You have full control over their layout including the order and how many display in a row. It’s pretty advanced, which is great if you want the freedom, but a bit cumbersome if you want to get something up and running quickly.
With WooCommerce Extra Product Options, you can create product options globally for all your products at once, and then disable them selectively. You also have the option to create new options for individual products. There’s also conditional logic for showing and hiding fields based on the user’s selection. For instance, if a customer checks the box that they want it gift-wrapped, you can display a text box for them to type in a custom message.
If you want a full-featured WooCommerce product addons plugin, you can’t go wrong with this one, especially for the price.
7. WooCommerce Custom Product Addons
WooCommerce Custom Product Addons has all the essential features you need and the lowest price tag of any plugin here. Using this plugin, you can select from 14 different field types to add new custom options to your products.
You’ll find important features like conditional logic, variable pricing based on the user’s selection, inventory management based on the selected options, and required/optional fields. Another cool option is the ability to multiply the price by the quantity of an option used.
My only complaint with this feature is that the UI is pretty basic. The YITH plugin has done a much better job of styling the additional options is a modern and user-friendly way.
Overall, it’s a great product add-on plugin for WooCommerce and the most affordable option on the market.
8. Product Add-Ons
WooCommerce has an official plugin called Product Add-Ons for giving customers choices to personalize their products.
With this plugin, you can add new fields to any product and change the price based on their choices. For instance, you can add color options with small thumbnail images, add a checkbox for gift wrapping, or add a text field for custom text they want to be engraved on the product.
While it works perfectly well, the options in this plugin are pretty basic. More troubling, is that there are basic features like default values for checkboxes that haven’t been added despite being requested by customers for years now. It looks like it is unlikely these features will be added any time soon.
9. WooCommerce Custom Fields for Variations
If you use product variations, you’ll love the WooCommerce Custom Fields for Variations plugin.
This plugin works a bit differently than the others. Rather than giving the products extra options for the user to choose from, this plugin lets you add additional information to your product variations.
You can create a group of custom fields separately from your products. Then, assign the custom fields to any of the products or variations on your site. This lets you manage your add-ons in one place and quickly update them across the entire site. There are numerous field types to choose from, including checkboxes, dropdowns, and radio buttons.

If you need a final recommendation, here are a few more tips.
YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons & Extra Options gets my top recommendation because it has all the functionality you need, and it has the best style of any plugin listed here.
The Product Add-Ons Ultimate Bundle is my runner-up recommendation because of its advanced functionality. If you need calculated prices, image editing, and image previews for your add-ons, go with this plugin.
