Intranet WordPress themes
Every theme here is responsive and optimized for mobile devices. They’re also recently updated so they work with the latest version of WordPress (some were updated just days ago). Here are my top picks for best intranet WordPress themes for 2019.
1. Woffice by Alkaweb (Themeforest)
Woffice is a full-featured theme for organizing an active intranet community site. Use it to update employees with internal events, coordinate projects, and provide an employee directory with contact info for each member.
The theme itself is quite attractive and modern. It makes tasteful use of color and whitespace to create a design that isn’t cluttered despite the large variety of content in its pages. Members will find it easy to browse the intranet and publish their own content with the awesome Woffice theme.
On top of the excellent design, Woffice includes loads of powerful features. One of the coolest features is the Slack integration. Members can be notified in specific Slack channels about new projects, new users, tasks, and more. The dashboard employees see when they login to the intranet portal is fully customizable and built with widgets. Between WordPress’ default widgets, widgets added by Woffice, and the thousands of additional free widgets available on wordpress.org, this makes the dashboard highly customizable.
Altogether, Woffice is an amazing premium theme with great design and a comprehensive feature set for a company intranet website.
2. Thrive by Dunhakdis (Themeforest)
The gorgeous and responsive Thrive theme is another fantastic option for building an intranet-based website.
This all-in-one intranet theme has more of a community focus than the Woffice theme. It integrates with BuddyPress for its many social features. When you login to the private demo site, you’ll immediately notice the red notifications in the header for messages and activity updates. One of BuddyPress’ most popular features is the activity feed which can be displayed for every user and is tightly integrated with the Thrive theme.
There’s a huge amount of functionality in this theme including features like live messages, file management, project collaboration, and community forums. It has everything you need to setup a private intranet for a corporate or government website. Thrive is even compatible with WooCommerce for selling products and the LearnDash LMS plugin for online training courses. Due to its flexibility and thoroughness, it’s one of the best intranet WordPress themes available.
3. Micro Office by ThemeREX (Themeforest)
Micro Office is a clean and spacious theme that users may find easier to navigate. The design is friendly and effective for featuring content like blog posts, events, and employee profiles.
The Micro Office theme has a more straightforward layout that gets straight into the most important aspect of the site with less clutter and distraction. You can even keep members up-to-date with notifications whenever news is published on the intranet.
This intranet WP theme is optimized for mobile display and has a one-click demo content import to help you quick-start your site. It also includes a drag-and-drop page builder for creating totally custom templates and three different homepage layouts for the user dashboards. If you like the simple layout of this helpful intranet theme, Micro Office may be the best choice for your site.
4. BuddyApp by Seventh Queen (Themeforest)
The BuddyApp theme is perfect for intranets and private professional communities. It has a robust double-sidebar layout for navigation allowing a ton of content to be published and found inside the community site.
Use the BuddyApp theme to publish all sorts of internal documents including news posts, events, knowledgebase articles, and checklists. With all the content types available, it will work well for organizing employees and disseminating important information throughout the company.
BuddyApp has a “mobile first” design approach and it shows. The theme is just as gorgeous and user-friendly on mobile devices as on laptops and desktop computers. As another theme with BuddyPress compatibility, there are loads of social features like live messaging and activity feeds. It also uses the WordPress Live Customizer to provide lots of flexibility options for changing the colors, header image, logo, and more.
5. Alliance by ThemeREX (Themeforest)
Alliance is the cleanest and IMO the most attractive of the intranet themes here, but it isn’t without its flaws.
While Alliance is beautiful and as full-featured as the other themes listed here, it is at times harder to use. The drop-down menu design in the sidebar, in particular, is tedious to navigate so I would recommend sticking to a single-tier menu there. In addition, some of the widgets in the demo are somewhat pointless, so the widgets you choose may not look as nice.
Besides these small flaws, it’s a very good theme. The calendar and events look great and Alliance would work wonderfully for an intranet based on events. The community features come from an integration with BuddyPress and it even has its own feature for creating training courses. One of the cooler features in this theme is the survey tool which lets you collect opinions from employees and display the results for all members of the private site to review.
Alliance is a mixed bag, but it’s a nice theme overall. It would serve well as an employee portal with an emphasis on events and training programs.

Which intranet themes is best for you?
In my opinion, Woffice is the best all-around intranet theme. It has a crazy amount of features and a design that fits the niche very well.
If you want a more community-centric design, Thrive is an excellent alternative. BuddyApp is also filled with community features and would work well for an intranet with messaging and notifications.
If you’re looking for a simpler intranet theme with a cleaner design, both Alliance and Micro Office will work well. As themes by elite Themeforest author, ThemeREX, you can rest assured they are both quality products.
